Green Pinguïn Lounge chair by Theo Ruth for Artifort, 1955 (Sold)
€795,00
In 1953, Artifort and the Penguin, designed by Theo Ruth, paved the way for innovative design. This chair is one of his best designs from that time. The chair is beautiful because of its simple design. A real design classic and an eye catcher for every room. A timeless design. It consists of a wooden frame covered with fabric and consists of two separate basic elements that fall into each other. This makes the chairs very easy to transport. Given the age, these vintage chairs are in really good condition but do have some wear because of age on the arms and seating. There is one extra special think about these chairs and that is the original Charles and Ray Eames upholstery.

Important designers from home and abroad have been given the opportunity at Artifort for years to work on innovative design. They forge beauty, functionality and form into a unity that can be found everywhere in the world. As early as the 1930s, the company Wagemans & Van Tuinen (which introduced the brand name Artifort in 1928) saw the importance of its own design. First, the entrepreneurs designed the new furniture themselves, building on existing models, in 1936 the company hired a permanent designer with Theo Ruth. From 1958, design will be given an even more prominent place in Artifort's policy. Kho Liang Ie is appointed as aesthetic advisor. He brings in various international designers including Pierre Paulin and Geoffrey Harcourt. In particular, they bring the Artifort collection to the top
