This set of four diamond barstools was designed by Harry Bertoia in 1952 and produced by Knoll. The Bertoia Barstool is part of Harry Bertoia's iconic 1952 wire collection, an study in space, form and function by one of the master sculptors of the last century.These chairs are one of the first to be made and exported to the Netherlands. The previous owner bought them in 1953 and had them ever since. These chairs are in a good condition but will have some signs of use because of its age. The dimensions are: W 53 cm - ZH 72 cm - H 107 cm - D 55 cm

Description

Sculptor and furniture designer Harry Bertoia was born in San Lorenzo, Italy in 1915. He settled in the United States in 1930, and went on to study at the Society of Arts and Crafts in Detroit, Michigan (1936) and the Cranbrook Academy of Art in nearby Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (1937-1939). At the latter, he encountered Walter Gropius, Edmund N. Bacon, and Charles and Ray Eames; he also taught metalworking and jewelry design (1937-1942) and graphics (1943) at the school
