Antique Whalers Ship Lantern, 1800s
€495,00
Antique oil lamp or ship's lantern formerly used on by whalers. The lamp is cardanic suspension. A cardanic suspension is a swivel support that allows rotation of an object around an axis. In the center is a wick. No matter what a ship did, the cardanic suspension always kept the center point straight up and kept the wick burning nicely. Of course, the lamp has rusted over time; the lamp is made entirely of cast iron. But overall, the lamp is in exceptionally good time for its age. The dimensions are: 48 cm diameter
